Shannon's Story
Having experienced therapy from the other side of the couch, I understand what a huge influence it can have on your life. I’m passionate about helping people crack the code of why they’re anxious or recognize the old limiting beliefs that are keeping them stuck. Seeing my clients get back into the dating world after a difficult relationship, feel less afraid of their own thoughts, or simply find more self-acceptance is what drives me.
My path to becoming a therapist wasn’t the most direct, but I truly believe it’s my soul’s purpose. I’ve always been obsessed with the human condition. The second I meet someone, I want to know about your relationships, your wins, your struggles, how you see the world — what makes you YOU. I originally set out to study Art Education, switching my major to Psychology at the last minute. After spending 8 years in the corporate world, I decided to follow my passion for the human experience back to school and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2014.
With my extensive background in therapy, from in-patient care at Peachford Hospital and treating severe mental illness at Hillside to years of private practice with The Stress & Anxiety Management Institute, I’m able to diagnose all types of conditions and pinpoint which type of therapy will make the biggest impact.
I founded Here We Go in 2019 after returning from a 10-month backpacking trip around the world where I learned new modalities to incorporate into my practice. I’m constantly seeking more learning and experience around what makes us tick as humans (see the stack of books on my nightstand for proof!), because helping people isn’t just what I do — it’s who I am.

Dena's Story
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works exclusively with women, my journey to becoming a therapist was paved by social justice and activism. My own feminist awakening came in college when I interned at the women’s health center and had my eyes opened to all the issues that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual assault, domestic violence, and reproductive health issues.
I went on to minor in gender/women’s studies, paired with a major in biopsychology and neuroscience. I found my calling working in spaces where I could focus on women’s mental health, helping them navigate issues such as homelessness, lack of access to reproductive care, and intimate partner violence.
I’m driven by a desire to help women understand and navigate the barrage of messages that are constantly being thrown at us — from society, from our families, from men, and even from ourselves. By incorporating both feminist theory and mindful self-compassion practices into my work, I help my clients find their voice and gain a deeper understanding of themselves.
I also specialize in trauma work, helping clients discover how the past (any adverse experience, big or small) shows up in the present. Through an integrated approach, clients move from feeling stuck to feeling empowered.
After moving back to my hometown of Atlanta in 2018, I worked as a therapist at CHRIS 180 serving kids, teens, families, and adults facing mental health issues, before transitioning to Here We Go. In my free time you might spot me playing outside with my dog, concocting homemade kombucha, or discovering hidden gems on Buford Highway.

Stephanie's Story
Some people spend a lifetime searching for their passion or their purpose in life, but I was lucky in that respect. I knew very early that the human connection and helping others who struggle was the most important part of my experience and that’s been my north star ever since. I grew up in the age of social media, reality TV and cyber bullying - so I have a very experiential understanding of the inherent challenges that come hand in hand with our changing world. Having experienced therapy for myself, I know first hand how important and life changing a supportive, positive therapeutic environment can be.
Before joining, Here We Go Therapy, I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Georgia College and State University and a Masters from George Washington University. My background is in working with the symptoms that arise from unprocessed life-difficulties, challenging relationships or early traumas. These symptoms might look like like anxiety, depression, trouble maintaining relationships or substance abuse. I also have specific training in working with addiction and OCD. My clients are mostly adult and adolescents.
When I’m not helping others, you can find me deep in the most recent psychological thriller on the couch with my “big boned” cat, Leo or at a small comedy cellar laughing along with up-and-coming comedy hopefuls. I love all things outdoors - parks, the beltline…really anywhere with some sunshine. To recharge my batteries, I’ve been known to watch an episode or two or three of Love is Blind or Bachelor in Paradise. If I’m really feeling adventurous, I’ll add a couple homemade cookies to the mix.

Shannon's Story
At my core, I’m an existential thinker who enjoys the process of creating meaning in life. My passion is helping clients explore questions in an environment that feels safe and judgement free. With trauma therapy, there’s such beauty when we see a client begin to find hope & light after spending so much time in pain.
I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Richmont Graduate University in 2018 and I am currently working on my doctorate at Regent University in Counselor Education and Supervision. I specialize in working with young adults and adults, and I have experience working with complex trauma, sexual abuse/assault, personality disorders, eating disorders, body image issues, spiritual/religious abuse, dissociative identity disorders, psychosis, and co-dependency. It’s a privilege of mine to walk alongside my client’s journey.
Outside of the counseling room, I spend time with my sweet pup, Archie, experimenting in the kitchen with new cuisines, watching true crime documentaries, pursuing my love of travel, and hosting gatherings with family & friends.

Whitney's Story
Hi! My name is Whitney and I have a passion for being with people as they navigate the ups and downs of life. Seeing someone breakthrough and experience life with more freedom is a privilege, and I treasure it.
I received my graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University and have worked in private practice and treatment settings. I have experience working with those dealing with childhood trauma, attachment concerns, sexual assault, eating disorders, body image issues, OCD, ADHD, relationship concerns, and family of origin issues.
When I take time to reset, nature and movement is what I need. If I'm not hiking Raybun Bald or teaching yoga, I’m likely relaxing with my animals, husband, and son and watching a Twilight movie marathon or reading crime fiction novels.
