Your “no-scroll Saturday” itinerary in Atlanta

June 18, 2026 by herewegotherapy

Oftentimes, you don’t accidentally feel better — you usually have to interrupt the pattern first. Doomscrolling keeps your brain in a constant loop of input, urgency, and comparison, but a few small shifts (less noise, more movement, a little sunlight) can go a long way in helping your nervous system settle.

You don’t have to do it perfectly or disappear off your phone forever, but it can be helpful to prove to yourself that you can step out of the cycle, even briefly.

Try this routine once this week and notice what changes:

  • Leave your phone at home (or at least put it on Do Not Disturb). Constant input keeps your brain in reaction mode, and you need space to hear your own thoughts again.
  • Start your day at Freedom Farmers Market. Even if you don’t buy anything, you’re showing up, learning, and being part of a community space.
  • Walk the Atlanta BeltLine. No destination, no podcast, no input. Rhythmic movement helps regulate your nervous system and interrupts the scroll → spiral cycle.
  • Journal in Piedmont Park. Put pen to paper in nature and give your brain a break from stimulation.
  • Stop by Virginia Highland Books. Pick out a new book, take in the quiet atmosphere, or grab a greeting card to send to a friend who needs some happy mail.
  • Reward yourself at Little Tart Bakeshop. Your brain needs a reason to come back to this: not everything has to be productive to be worth it.

You don’t need to optimize your entire life. Sometimes you just need a few hours offline And if you’re feeling stuck in patterns like this and want more support, therapy can help you understand what’s underneath it and build something that actually feels better long-term. Reach out to get started. 🤍

Chronic Shame: What It Is & How To Release It

May 23, 2026 by herewegotherapy

Person holding a coffee cup with latte.

Shame is a powerful emotion that often lingers beneath the surface, subtly affecting our thoughts, behaviors, and interactions. Unlike guilt, which arises from something we’ve done, shame stems from the belief that there is something inherently wrong with who we are.

Shame doesn’t always announce itself openly. Instead, it weaves its way into your daily life through subtle – sometimes surprising – signs.

  • You may constantly strive for perfection, fearing that any failure will confirm that you are “not enough.” This can lead to an endless cycle of self-criticism and anxiety over not meeting your own impossible standards.
  • If you avoid sharing your true thoughts, feelings, or experiences with others, it could be rooted in shame. The fear of judgment or rejection can keep you from being open and vulnerable, which can isolate you emotionally.
  • Shame often drives people to seek approval from others. You may say yes when you want to say no, or change who you are to fit in, hoping that external validation will make you feel worthy.
  • A voice in your head may frequently criticize you, labeling you as “stupid,” “lazy,” or “unlovable.” This internal narrative of self-blame is one of the most common manifestations of shame.
  • You might push yourself too hard in some areas of life to prove your worth (overcompensation) or avoid challenges altogether, believing you are destined to fail (underachievement).
  • Shame can make you overly cautious, afraid to take risks in your personal or professional life. The fear of failure or rejection may hold you back from new opportunities or experiences.
  • When shame is deeply ingrained, you may withdraw from others, fearing that they will see your perceived flaws. This can lead to loneliness and a disconnect from meaningful relationships.

Shame can be deeply embedded in our lives, but with the right support, it’s possible to overcome it. Therapy helps you unpack and heal the parts of yourself burdened by shame, allowing you to move forward with greater self-acceptance, confidence, and peace.

If shame is holding you back, consider reaching out for support. At Here We Go, healing is possible, and therapy can be the key to unlocking a life free from that weight – contact us to get started.

ADHD & Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD): Why Even Small Rejections Can Feel Huge

February 28, 2026 by herewegotherapy

Ever feel crushed by criticism or fear of letting someone down? That’s normal, everyone experiences rejection. But for people with ADHD or prone to Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD), these feelings can hit intensely and be hard to manage.

What is Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD)?

RSD is extreme emotional pain triggered by perceived rejection, criticism, or even letting someone down. Everyone experiences rejection sometimes, but for people with RSD, these feelings are intense and hard to cope with.

It’s common in ADHD, anxiety, and trauma histories, but anyone can experience it.

Signs of RSD include:

  • Easily embarrassed or self-conscious
  • Low self-esteem, trouble believing in themselves
  • Strong emotional reactions to perceived rejection (anger, tears, or internalized depression)
  • “People pleaser” tendencies or intense focus on avoiding disapproval
  • Avoiding projects or tasks where failure is possible
  • Striving for perfection to prevent rejection
  • Anxiety and difficulty prioritizing self-care or downtime

Here are some tips for how to cope with RSD:

  • Pause before reacting. Take a breath, step back, and give yourself a moment before responding. Even a 5-second pause helps your brain recalibrate.
  • Reality check. Ask yourself: “Is this really about me, or is my brain overreacting?”
  • Self-soothe. Journal, breathe, take a short walk, or repeat a grounding mantra. Calm your body, calm your mind.
  • Share with someone you trust. Talking through triggers with a friend or family member can help you process without spiraling. A therapist can also help you explore whether medication is right for you.

You might overthink, avoid tasks, or get unexpectedly emotional, but there are ways to cope. Pausing, grounding, and talking it out can help you navigate intense emotions and respond with confidence.

Feeling deeply doesn’t have to feel hopeless. Support and therapy can help you handle rejection without it taking over your day. Contact us to get started.

4 Benefits of Taking A Break from Tech

December 16, 2025 by herewegotherapy

Starting a digital detox journey by taking a break from social media, digital entertainment, endless emails, or screens as a whole can do wonders for your mental well-being! Here are four incredible benefits to inspire you:

  • Reduced stress levels: When you unplug, you give your mind a break from constant notifications and information overload which can lead to anxiety and stress.
  • Improved sleep quality: Say goodbye to bedtime scrolling on social media! Detoxing from screens before sleep helps regulate your circadian rhythm, leading to better sleep quality and a refreshed mind in the morning.
  • Enhanced real-world connections: A tech detox creates space for meaningful face-to-face interactions which can improve feelings of loneliness and isolation so often found with excessive tech use.
  • Heightened productivity: January is a great month to renew your focus! Without the constant buzz of notifications, productivity can increase. Try taking a break from social media to start your year off focused.

Ready to explore a deeper sense of peace? Our therapy services at Here We Go are here to support your mental well-being – reach out to us to get started. 💡
