Your “no-scroll Saturday” itinerary in Atlanta

June 18, 2026 by herewegotherapy

Oftentimes, you don’t accidentally feel better — you usually have to interrupt the pattern first. Doomscrolling keeps your brain in a constant loop of input, urgency, and comparison, but a few small shifts (less noise, more movement, a little sunlight) can go a long way in helping your nervous system settle.

You don’t have to do it perfectly or disappear off your phone forever, but it can be helpful to prove to yourself that you can step out of the cycle, even briefly.

Try this routine once this week and notice what changes:

  • Leave your phone at home (or at least put it on Do Not Disturb). Constant input keeps your brain in reaction mode, and you need space to hear your own thoughts again.
  • Start your day at Freedom Farmers Market. Even if you don’t buy anything, you’re showing up, learning, and being part of a community space.
  • Walk the Atlanta BeltLine. No destination, no podcast, no input. Rhythmic movement helps regulate your nervous system and interrupts the scroll → spiral cycle.
  • Journal in Piedmont Park. Put pen to paper in nature and give your brain a break from stimulation.
  • Stop by Virginia Highland Books. Pick out a new book, take in the quiet atmosphere, or grab a greeting card to send to a friend who needs some happy mail.
  • Reward yourself at Little Tart Bakeshop. Your brain needs a reason to come back to this: not everything has to be productive to be worth it.

You don’t need to optimize your entire life. Sometimes you just need a few hours offline And if you’re feeling stuck in patterns like this and want more support, therapy can help you understand what’s underneath it and build something that actually feels better long-term. 4 Benefits of Taking A Break from Tech

December 16, 2025 by herewegotherapy

Starting a digital detox journey by taking a break from social media, digital entertainment, endless emails, or screens as a whole can do wonders for your mental well-being! Here are four incredible benefits to inspire you:

  • Reduced stress levels: When you unplug, you give your mind a break from constant notifications and information overload which can lead to anxiety and stress.
  • Improved sleep quality: Say goodbye to bedtime scrolling on social media! Detoxing from screens before sleep helps regulate your circadian rhythm, leading to better sleep quality and a refreshed mind in the morning.
  • Enhanced real-world connections: A tech detox creates space for meaningful face-to-face interactions which can improve feelings of loneliness and isolation so often found with excessive tech use.
  • Heightened productivity: January is a great month to renew your focus! Without the constant buzz of notifications, productivity can increase. Try taking a break from social media to start your year off focused.
